The Spinc & The Wicklow Way – 11km

By Helene Svenningsen – Trailman Denmark

This October 2017, I got the pleasure of running in the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland last weekend. There were many different routes. I chose  to run the Spinc or Red Route in the fantastic Glendalough Valley.  I did the 11km route twice as training and ran a total of 21.6 km in 3 hours.  A great TrailRun!

The trail ascends steeply on a path up by Poulanass Waterfall to a boardwalk and wooden steps leading to a spectacular viewing point overlooking the Upper Lake. It takes you in a circle under Lugduff Mountain before winding down through the valley on forest road.

I recommend any Trail Runner who loves technical and hard trails to visit Wicklow on their Trail Adventures.
