Overview
A classic and popular trail loop overlooking the spectacular Glendalough valley, one of Wicklow’s most popular sights. Park either at the upper or lower lake car parks. The route uses the waymarked Blue and White routes in Glendalough, which may be closed due to renovation. The run itself begins at the edge of the Upper Lake which is easy to find.

Route Description
Starting the edge of the Upper Lake, head alongside the northern side of the lake, either on the main gravel trail or the lakeside single track, towards the Miner’s Village, stopping for a look at St. Kevin’s bed. At the Miner’s village a climb takes you up to the bridge over the Glenealo River. The trail then follows the ridge back towards Glendalough itself, with panoramic views of the whole valley. Please obey signage and stick to the trail to avoid erosion or injury.
