The route is being changed to a circuit at the behest of the NPWS. The ascent follows the perimeter of the forest to the right of the stile on the WW and then follows a wall to the ridge over open mountain. A right turn leads to the summit. The descent is unchanged.

RAW ULTRA & ATLAS RUNNING have joined forces to bring you the Ridge Challenge and Ridge Ultra.

Irelands toughest and longest foot race follows the Irish Chapter of the International Appalachian Trail

Ridge Challenge  (48 HOUR CUT OFF) Starting at Gortin, the route runs East to West following rural roads and open hillsides. Then crossing the Sperrin Mountains before crossing the Blue Stacks and finishing along the Atlantic Coast at Bunglas 112 miles away.

The Ridge Ultra Starting in Larne the race starts East to West along the Moyle Way Featuring expansive panoramas and challenging climbs, this route traverses cliffs, moorland and country tracks.

 The Ridge then continues to join the spectacular Causeway Coast Way, an exhilarating route along the most celebrated stretch of coastline in Northern Ireland before joining up with the Ridge Challenge Route at Gortin.

A total Distance of 269 miles.

Both races are self sufficient.
