Overview

Welcome to the Irish Home of the rich and famous. The beautiful seaside village of Dalkey is where some of Ireland’s wealthiest people live. Think U2’s Bono and The Edge, film director Neil Jordan, F1 Races Eddie Irvine or Enya and more recently Matt Damon, who stayed in Ireland during the first months of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although relatively short in distance, the route proposed here will bring you twice from sea level, to the top of Killiney Hill. It is designed to help you discover the most scenic locations in an around Dalkey and Killiney Hill starting and finishing at Dalkey Train Station. Most of the route is on road with some trails.

Route Description:

From Dalkey Train Station, head down towards towards Coliemore Harbour. Follow Coliemore road to reach Sorrento Park for a view over Dalkey Island. Head back towards Dalkey village to then cross the railroad line and start the climb up Killiney Hill along the Knock-Na-Cree Rd. Turn left at the Right of Way to Torca Road. At Torca Road, turn left again and shortly turn right up the dirt road to reach the top of Dalkey hill. Follow the trail down to cross the Vico Road to reach the Popular Whiterock Beach. Head back up to reach the Obelisk on top of the second hill. Make you way down, following the Metals routes back into Dalkey village.
